Speaker: Richard Gerrard, Historian, Museum and Heritage Services, City of Toronto
Topic: Opening the Repository: Stories about the City's Archaeological Collections
Archaeological collections are nothing more than a financial burden to the holding repository if they are not made accessible to the public. The City of Toronto's museums have been accumulating specimens and collections since the mid-20th century. Over the last several years there has been a resurgence of interest in the collections and the stories they can help tell. This talk will highlight some of our recent efforts to better understand, and make more broadly available, the collections both in storage and in situ.
